Southend United manager Kevin Bond resigns
This news comes after they started their League One campaign with six straight defeats in the first six fixtures.
They currently sit 22nd in the league with Bury being expelled from EFL and Bolton sits 23rd with their 12 point deduction.
Southend United are the only team not to have any points to their name among the teams that played at least one game.
Bond took charge of the club in April and helped guide Southend to safety on the final day of the 2018-19 campaign on goal difference with the club sitting at 50 points.
Bond had a managerial record of 3 wins and 2 draws(11 points) from 15 games in charge at Roots Hall.
He is famous for being number two for Harry Redknapp whom he has served at Tottenham Hotspur, Queens Park Rangers, Birmingham City, Portsmouth, and Southampton as an assistant coach.
The club Chairman Ron Martin met with Bond on Friday morning amid the sacking rumors and the 62-year-old resigned following the meeting.
Ron Martin’s statement on club official wedsite read
Kevin is a sincere professional coach with huge experience in the industry. His accomplishments in keeping the club in League One last season needs to be acknowledged and will long be remembered by the club’s supporters.
Unfortunately the euphoria experience at the end of last season has not translated to the pitch so far this season. However, I remain confident that the players we have at Southend United, including the strong signings made by Kevin Bond, will enable a successful season under the guidance of a new Manager. The search for that individual commences today.
