Roma fan banned for life for racist Instagram messages to Brazilian Center back Juan Jesus

Roma have posted the following message on Twitter along with the message

The message which is in Italian roughly translates to

The user of this Instagram account has sent disgusting racist insults to Juan Jesus, through a direct message.

We have reported the account to the Police and Instagram.

The person responsible will be baned from the matches of #ASRoma. #NoToRacism

This comes amid an increased number of racism cases coming into the spotlight.

There is also feeling among the football community that social media is an easy medium for racism against footballers.

Just few days ago we have seen Man Utd and England star Marcus Rashford saying

For me, it’s too easy to do whatever you like on the internet.

Any of us now could go on and create accounts and write what we want under anybody’s posts and nobody would ever know.

For me, there’s hundreds of thousands of people that use my name on social media and they can write what they like.

The number of accounts out there is ridiculous – a lot of them are not doing it from their own accounts, they are all dummy accounts

To be honest, if it continues people will just start to come off the platforms if it they end up doing more bad than good

In a press conference while with England.

While another star Raheem Sterling took to Instagram to take on media bias against football players of color.

Good morning I just want to say , I am not normally the person to talk a lot but when I think I need my point to heard I will speak up. Regarding what was said at the Chelsea game as you can see by my reaction I just had to laugh because I don’t expect no better. For example you have two young players starting out there careers both play for the same team, both have done the right thing. Which is buy a new house for there mothers who have put in a lot of time and love into helping them get where they are, but look how the news papers get there message across for the young black player and then for the young white payer. I think this in unacceptable both innocent have not done a thing wrong but just by the way it has been worded. This young black kid is looked at in a bad light. Which helps fuel racism an aggressive behaviour, so for all the news papers that don’t understand why people are racist in this day and age all i have to say is have a second thought about fair publicity an give all players an equal chance.
