Turkey stun World Champions France in Euro Qualifiers beating them 2-0

Turkey hosted France at Konya Büyükşehir Stadium in Group H fixture as part of the Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Didier Deschamps named a French team which featured international superstars like Kylian Mbappé, Antoine Griezmann, Paul Pogba, Raphaël Varane, Benjamin Pavard, Lucas Digne, Samuel Umtiti, Moussa Sissoko, Blaise Matuidi, Olivier Giroud, Hugo Lloris and substituted in Ferland Mendy, Kingsley Coman, and Wissam Ben Yedder.

The star-studded French team didn’t even have a single shot on target even with 59% of the possession. While Hugo Lloris was called into action six times by Turkey.

Two first-half goals from Cengiz Ünder(40 min) and Kaan Ayhan(30 min) have put the hosts in winning seats.

Şenol Güneş has not lost a single game since taking control of Turkey who was relegated from UEFA Nations League Group 2.

Before the match, both Turkey and France have won both their fixtures and have 6 points. Teams that finish in the top 2 spots in each of 10 groups qualify for EURO 2020 with the remaining 4 teams qualifying via playoffs between UEFA Nations League group winners.

Elsewhere in Europe, Germany, Italy, and Belgium have won their matches against Belarus, Greece, and Kazakhstan conformably. While Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Croatia had hard-fought wins against Cyprus, Estonia, and Wales respectively.
