Leyton Orient is moving in the right direction since the departure of their former owner Francesco Becchetti, who has brought the club to the brink of Winding up. But that was always not the case.
Even after the arrival of new owner Nigel Travis, things didn’t look bright for them under Steve Davis and they seemed destined for National League South. But the board made the right decision to remove Steve Davis from the job and replaced him with Justin Edinburgh and rest is history.
They will undoubtedly miss their former manager Justin, who passed away in summer after guiding them back to Football League.
Currently, the club is in the hunt for a new manager and Justin’s former assistant Ross Embleton is appointed as manager in the interim.
Ross Embleton started his management career as an Academy Coach under Martin Ling at the start of 2000. After 9 years spell, he left the club for 6 years to work at Tottenham Hotspur, AFC Bournemouth and Norwich City as an academy coach.
After that, he joined Swindon Town as the First team Coach under Martin Ling’s stewardship and followed Ling back to The O’s and served Ömer Riza, Steve Davis, and finally Justin Edinburgh as an assistant manager.
He is known for his Vocal, emotional celebrations on sidelines and close bond he maintained with Justin Edinburgh and the one he still maintains with their current Director of Football, Martin Ling is well documented.
It has not been an easy summer for Leyton Orient with all the off-field issues like re-trial of Marvin Ekpiteta regarding alleged punching a cinema-goer, and loss of great manager in Justin Edinburgh.
That doesn’t mean the world stops moving. Players need to take care of their careers and the club needs to do what is right for them. These players have left the club this summer.
Macauley Bonne, The 23-Year-Old Zimbabwean International striker was undoubtedly the best young player to play in National League last season. He scored 23 goals and created 4 more in 46 games he played last season.
Bonne has joined Charlton Athletic along with his fellow center forward Charles Clayden from Leyton Orient on a transfer fee which is being reported close to £200,000+ add-ons.
Josh Koroma is another talented young player to leave them this season. He scored 11 goals and set up 7 more in 39 appearances in the 2018-19 season.
Apart from the three players mentioned above Leyton orient has released Goalkeeper Charlie Grainger, 34-Year-old veteran Midfielder/Defender Alex Lawless, 32-year-old Midfielder/Defender Charlie Lee, and 30-year-Old veteran Center forward Jay Simpson.
The departures of Josh Koroma and Macauley Bonne alone meant they have lost Scorers of 34 out of 73 goals from last season. Which alone puts them in a bad position going into the league.

Former U-21 Irish International Center Forward Conor Wilkinson is a product of Millwall and Bolton Wanderers Academy.
He didn’t have a fruitful first half of the last season. As he only managed to make 9 appearances with Gillingham in League One. That led to him reaching a mutual agreement to terminate his contract with them.
He joined Dagenham & Redbridge for the second half of last season and scored 12 from 23 outings. He has a record of scoring 35 goals from 175 appearances across all competitions.
Josh Wright is a former English U-19 Midfielder, who is a product of Charlton Athletic Academy. He is a bit of a journeyman having represented 10 clubs in 12 years of his pro career.
He made 364 appearances in three tiers of Football League which includes 161 appearances in League One and 119 appearances in Championship.
He spent last season with Bradford City and made 22 appearances for them across all competitions. He was the captain for The Bantams on opening day but with the departure of Michael Collins from the manager role, he found himself down the pecking order.
He didn’t even travel to few games under David Hopkin but saw a bit of life under Gary Bowyer. That led to him not renewing with Bradford City and subsequently joining The O’s for the fourth time.
Leyton Orient fans have to travel 3695 miles if they want to attend all away matches, which means an average of 160.7 miles per game.
The longest trip for them will be the Carlisle United match for which they have to make a 307-mile trip.
Bookmakers are expecting Leyton Orient to have a mid table finish this season.
