Plymouth Argyle goes into this season as one of the favorites alongside Bradford City and Salford. They had an unexpected outcome last season as they were expected to build on their 2017-18 season’s 7th place.
But in the 2018-19 season, it was apparent from the first 11 games that Promotion was not on cards for them in League One. They were expected to regain their form and at least finish mid-table.
This was not the case as they remained in the relegation zone throughout 2018 and in the early part of January. But, their January form(4 wins from 5 games) gave the hope that they could easily survive the drop.
Their February form was also not bad as they won 2 and drawn 2 while March was mixed as they only won 1 but drawn three. April was the real killer as they went on a 5 game losing streak which took them from 15th to 21st.
They sacked their long term manager Derek Adams with just one game to go as it was rumored that he lost the dressing room. Which meant they went into their final game of the season with Kevin Nancekivell as the caretaker.
Even with a win on final match day against fellow relegation candidates Scunthorpe United, they were relegated on goal difference. This marked the end of their two-season run in League One.
As they say “You need to take a step back to move forward” this could be the case with The Pilgrims. As they managed to bring in Ryan Lowe, Manager who was one of an integral part of Bury’s last season success in League Two which he managed despite all the off-field chaos.
But, They will miss the service of Graham Carey, Ryan Edwards, Jamie Ness and most importantly their top goalscorers Freddie Ladapo and midfield maestro Rúben Lameiras who have all left the club in summer.
There is no doubt in saying that the main objective for Ryan Lowe will be to get promoted at the first time of asking. But it is not going to be an easy task as any experienced football fan would say consistency is the key and being the favorite will pose its own set of problems.
Ryan Lowe is the current manager of Plymouth Argyle. He is known for his swashbuckling style where his teams take a lot of risks and try to always be on the front foot.
He also likes to play two Play-makers who are usually complemented by two Strikers. Last year Bury scored a jaw-dropping 82 goals from 46 games while conceding 56, this helped them to a second-placed promotion from League Two.
He has famously said that he loved scoring goals, he always loved playing an attacking style and most of the successful teams he played in had an attacking style and his quote below will explain his attitude.

With a management style like that there is no doubt in saying that Plymouth Argyle will be entertaining to watch. He used 3-5-2 formation which can also be interpreted as 3-1-4-2 with Bury last season.
The 40-Year-Old has also made 531 appearances mostly in League One and League Two during his playing career.
He has also brought in his close friend Steven Schumacher as his Assistant notably Schumacher worked as the first-team coach at Bury.
Ryan Lowe seems to be going for only players who would complement the currently available squad. The Pilgrims have completed the signing of the following players.
Joe Edwards is a 28-Year-Old versatile midfield player who can also play in both fullback positions if needed but his preferred position is Central Midfield.
He is a very energetic player who can contribute at both sides of the pitch. When he plays in midfield he likes to make box-to-box runs and is also known for his scoring ability.
Edwards is a product of the Bristol Rovers academy and has made 295 appearances in his 8-year pro career for four clubs in Football League. He was on books at Colchester United, Yeovil Town, Bristol City, and Walsall.
He was with Walsall for the last 4-years and was one of the fan favorites at the club but he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee at the later stages of the 2017-18 season.
This injury led to him missing the first half of the 2018-19 season and even after recovering for the second half he wasn’t able to save Walsall from relegation.
He captained Walsall on 8 occasions mostly in the absence of George Dobson. But, he was released by Walsall this summer.
Danny Mayor
Danny Mayor is a 28-Year-Old Versatile midfielder who has spent last season with newly promoted League One side Bury under the stewardship of Ryan Lowe.
He was one of the integral parts of Lowe’s system last season as he created 12, scored 13 goals in 44 appearances last season.
He is a 6-foot tall playmaker who has a great right foot and can score great goals from outside the box.
Mayor likes to pick the up ball wide to uses his Dribbling ability, pace to beat opponents and likes to cut inside with the ball. But in Lowe’s system, he had the freedom to cover all areas of the field last season.
He has made 329 appearances across Championship, League One and League Two and notably won two promotions with Bury.
He left Bury after the Financially troubled club failed to renew the contract for retaining his services.
Plymouth Argyle is one of the two major clubs to play in Devon and is known for its passionate local fan base and their rivalry with Exeter City.
The club that was founded in 1903–04 has noticeably never played even a single season in the top flight of English football which proves the strength of their grass root fan network.
Plymouth Argyle will be the longest trip to most away fans this season and that also means the Pilgrims have to make a 5677-mile journey to reach all the away stadiums. The average trip length for 2019-20 season is 246.8 miles.
The longest trip in the calendar will be a Northern trip to Carlisle United for which the Pilgrims have to make a 389-mile journey.
